What you can do with Add Text to PDF

  • Click anywhere on the page and start typing, with no field or text box to set up first
  • Pick the font, size, colour, bold and italic for each piece of text you add
  • Drag text to reposition it after typing, and nudge it into line with what is already on the page
  • Works on scans, flat forms and image-only PDFs, where there is no real text to edit
  • New text is baked into the exported PDF as real text, not a flattened picture of it
  • Runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark

Add Text to PDF FAQ

How do I add text to a PDF for free?

Open the PDF in peadf, click the spot on the page where the text should go, and type. Choose the font, size and colour, then download. There is no sign-up and no watermark on the result.

Can I add text to a scanned document?

Yes. Adding text draws onto the page rather than editing existing content, so it works the same on a scan, a photo of a document or a flat printed form.

Is the added text real text or an image?

Real text. It is written into the exported PDF so it can be selected, searched and copied, and it stays sharp when printed or zoomed.

What if I want to change text that is already there?

Use Edit PDF Text instead. That reads the real text in the file so you can click a line and retype it, keeping the original font and re-wrapping the paragraph.
