Why did my file barely get smaller, or come back unchanged?
Compression works by re-rendering pages as images, so it helps most with scanned or image-heavy PDFs. If that would not make the file smaller, we simply hand back your original so you are never left with a worse file.
Will the text still be selectable after compressing?
This tool re-renders pages to shrink them, so it is best for scans and image-heavy documents rather than text you need to keep selectable. If you mainly need to edit or keep the text, use the PDF editor instead.
